On July 15, 2012, the "Chinese Folk Music Concert", hosted by the Institute of Chinese Traditional Culture, presented an engorssing audio-visual feast of oriental music at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology for Chinese and Western music lovers. The concert was performed by Beijing Heyue Mingqin Culture Media Co., Ltd. who came from Beijing on a special trip. Chinese Cantonese music with strong regional aura and special artistic charm immersed the audience in a vivid and endless aftertaste in the magnificent performances.

 

Beijing Heyuemingqin Culture Media Co., Ltd. Is dedicated to the inheritance and development of Chinese traditional music. This time, e group made a special trip from Beijing to London to the spread of Chinese traditional culture at the invitation of the British Academy of Chinese Traditional Culture. Ms. Cao Le, the chairwoman of Beijing Heyue Mingqin Culture Media Co., Ltd., who was born in a family of musicians, was influenced by her father's music since she was a child. She began to learn piano at the age of 5 and started performing on stage when she was 7. She has won numerous awards and the passion and love for Chinese traditional music has been supporting Ms. Cao’s career leading the team to the road of Chinese and Western music exchanges.

 

The Canton music is based on Guangdong folk tunes and Cantonese opera music and brand tunes. It has absorbed the nourishment of ancient China, especially the folk music in the south of the Yangtze River, developing over nearly 300 years. In this concert, traditional Chinese musical instruments such as Yangqin, Zhongruan, Gaohu, bamboo flute, and Dongxiao performed their best parts on the stage. This traditional cultural treasure that is well-renounced all over China were displayed in its original flavor. The opening song "Spring Breeze", the heroic, majestic and graceful melody told the joy of home-coming. The song "Zhaojun's Resentment" reproduced history with the awe-inspiring righteousness and the girl's attachment to the homeland. The lively and agile "Birds in the Forest" revealed the fresh, smooth, melodious and beautiful natural characteristics of the Canton music.

According to Ms. Cao, she has been spreading the culture of traditional Chinese music to non-Chinese audiences for more than 10 years. In these 10 years of practice and exploration, she has deeply felt that music is a form of art without boundaries and barriers. At the same time, she has also accumulated the background and stories told by music so that foreign music lovers can not only understand music, but also understand Chinese culture.
